What is The Academy of Education and Training Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA)?

If you would like to recruit an apprentice but, for whatever reason, are concerned about committing to employment through your own organisation, our Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA) could well be the right option for you.
Approved Apprenticeship Training

The Academy of Education and Training cic is an approved Apprenticeship Training Agency and is included on the National Apprenticeship Service, National Register of approved ATAs.

The Academy of Education and Training is a not for profit Apprenticeship Training Agency and provides a unique method of recruiting apprentices. The Apprentices are employed by us but placed with you as a Host Employer to work with, you get all the benefits of an apprentice without actually employing them whilst we work with you to recruit, employ and arrange training for them

The Academy of Education and Training ATA model was designed to deliver high quality Apprenticeship programmes primarily with a focus School and local community organisations and smaller employers.
There are numerous reasons to use an ATA including benefits such as:

We provide an alternative, low cost and low risk way for organisations to take on an Apprentice in their business

We employ the Apprentice and place them with the organisation to "Host" for the duration of their training

A reason for employing may be an organisation has short term restrictions on employee numbers or salary budgets

The Academy of Education and Training are the Apprentices Employer

The unique feature of the ATA model is that The Academy of Education and Training as the ATA is the apprentice’s employer not you, the apprentices are placed with you as a host employer. You pay the fee for the apprentice’s services based on the wage agreed (at least the minimum Apprentice rate) and the ATA management/administration fee.
When working in school/organsiations settings we work in partnership with schools/organisations to appoint the right candidate and to ensure compliance with safer recruiting, schools/organisations will be required to:

Interviews

Schools will be required to interview the candidates who are signposted to them

DBS Checks

Schools will need to carry out DBS checks for school/organisation purposes

Safeguarding

Apprentices will need to be included on all school-based/organisation internal safeguarding training

Inclusion

Apprentices should be treated as a member of their staff

The Apprenticeship Training Agency will be responsible for:

Initial Interview

The ATA will undertake the initial interview of candidates and signpost to schools/Organisations

Support Recruitment

The ATA will support the school/Organisation with recruitment

What happens once the position has been offered by the school/organisation?

If circumstances change and you are unable to retain the apprentice, we will endeavor to find appropriate alternative employment for them, giving them the reassurance that they can continue their Apprenticeship

  • Employ Apprentice- undertake all required documentation including eligibility for Apprenticeship and initial assessments
  • DBS check the Apprentice in addition to the schools doing their own DBS
  • Take up two references for Apprentice

The day to day practicalities …

Working with Schools/Small Organisations

Responsibility for the wages, tax, National Insurance, as well as administration and performance management, are all taken care of by The Academy of Education and Training as the ATA, one of your roles is the supervision of the apprentice during the Apprenticeship period and to train them in your workplace with the identified Training Provider- Sporting Futures Training UK Ltd/Educational Futures.

Payment and Budgets

An Academy of Education and Training ATA apprentice is not paid from your salary budget. As they are not salaried it means payment can come from an entirely different budget. You will be invoiced as, service.

We pay the Apprentices according to their contract, which will be a regular school-based contract and we will discuss this with you prior to commencement of the Apprenticeship.

Apprenticeship Training – getting them to Gateway, Qualifications and Support

Training will be delivered through our links with our approved training provider, Sporting Futures Training UK Ltd. There will be support for both the apprentice in their pursuit of their Apprenticeship Standard and qualification and you as the host employer, throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship.

The 2017 Apprenticeship Levy

The Academy of Training Providers CIC will be classed as a Non-levy organisation and will be liable for the 5% training contribution for the Apprenticeship Levy. This cost will be passed onto the Employer.
